Brand new T5i Flash doesn't work

Hello,

I cant get the flash to work, it doesn't even pop up, 

also when I try to acess flash control in the main menu as per pg. 218 of the manual it isnt even there, theres no 'flash control'

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

1.). What modes are you shooting in? (Auto, Av, Tv, P, etc). It should fire in Auto (green box) mode if you are shooting in a dim room just for a test.

2.). Before you go too far try resetting the settings to default. That is one of the items in one of the tabs in your Menu. Perhaps there is some setting in effect that is messing things up, like Disable Flash.

3.). Try popping the flash up manually with the little button. It isn't stuck or anything, is it?

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

Below are your flash options.  It is in your menu under shooting tab 1, I think, maybe 2.  Change the obivious selection.
