Duane
Apprentice

Real simple and to the point

Never used the video for three years I have owned this camera.

Tried it yesterday, it froze up after 1 minute.

Err 80 code.

Have to pull battery to reset.

Turn it back on, everything looks fine.

Take a picture, red light comes on, screen is black. err 80 in view finder. I have to pull battery. (even shutting it off, the red light stays on)

Changed memory cards (brand new)

Something is fried.

I see many other users have had this problem. But didnt see remedy, other than send it in.

I want an explanation and estimated cost.

Hello Duane,

Since the error message is cleared when you perform a reset, this does sound as though we are going to have to recommend you send in the camera for evalaution. The error 80 is an image malfunction error.

Regrettably Canon cannot offer to provide prices for repairs because we need to have the equipment on hand.  You can set up service on our web site, here, at your earliest convenience.
