how to view images on OS without downloading them?

Is there a cable out there that makes it happen?

Would HDMI mini OUT work for this purpose?

I tether all my critical shoots like Yearbook or Senior photos, etc. When you tether you do send the photo to the computer at least in Lightroom anyway. But it works beautifully. If you simply stick the SD/CF card in a reader you don't transfer the photos just to view them.

There are magnifiers like Hoodman that attach to the live view LCD screen. There are iphone size, perhaps larger, monitors that you can mount on the DSLR. I don't use them so I am not fully aware of what all is available. But I see other guys using them. Look around I am sure there is a solution.

Thanks for the input all. I'm sure there's a solution out there, that I have to keep on searching.

People of the interweb: connecting the camera to an HDMI port on a MacBook does not work.

I might post a new topic to raise awareness about this issue and maybe inspire anyone to share their solution, but in the meantime, the mini HDMI cord has proven to be a lie.
