Unfortunately I downloaded some bad software to help me get the shutter cound off my 60D and t4i, any information as to how to get the shudder counts on reliable software and directions as to use.

I have no advice on what software to use. Canon service can tell you. If you are curious about a used camera, what difference is knowing going to make? The shutter is going to fail when it decides to fail whether or not you know the count or not.

400plus only works for 400D.

I use a utility by Dire Studio named "Shutter Count". There is both a Mac version and a Windows version.
It's not free, but I only paid $3 on the Mac app store for it.
It does not work on a few older models and their website does have the full list of cameras that are supported... but it does work on both the 60D and T4i.
