You need to unpack the images in the heir file.  Windows 10 Photos cannot read ZIP files, either.

How to unpack the .heic image? There is no option for this when right clicking on it

You cannot do so directly.  There are undocumented applications that can convert the files, but I would not trust them.

Did you bother to read my post? You can get an heic extension directly from Microsoft.

But again, what does this have to do with Canon?

Okay, the first thing you need to do is figure out how to change those heic photos to png.only in this way,you can see them on Windows 10.

Now read this tutorial so that you can know how to open these photos on Win 10 pc.

There are online heic to jpeg converters.

THIS IS NOT A CANON ISSUE!

How is this a Canon problem? That is the new iPhone image format.

(Waddizzle, it is *not* a compression format)

I looked up the file type at fileinfo.  It reported that it is a compressed image file, which can hold multiple images.

And JPEG is a compressed image file that can hold one image.

The "multiple images" allows for "live images" whatever those are. I think I took one by accident on my new iPhone once. 8^)

My point is that this is a new image format, and an update to Windows should allow you to view them.
