Vertical lines over video??

Using a refurbished Canon Rebel for video and the video ends up having vertical lines and being black and white. I cant figure out what it is. Any ideas?

Do those lines appear in the video on the camera's LCD as you are shooting, in playback or just on your computer after you download the video?

It happens on the LCD screen, during playback and on the computer. It's something that happens within the camera. Because I'll be shooting something and it will so some weird stuff all of a sudden like a yellow flash and then the bars will show up. then when I look at the footage on my computer they're still there. Origionally I was hoping it was just a problem with the LCD screen, but it is not 😞
