I was taking pictures yesterday with my Canon 7D. When I went to press the shutter release nothing happened. Thats when I looked and it appeared I had lost power. I have a battery grip on my camera. WHen it finally came back on it showed my batteries at about 75% COuld this be a battery issue or something else?

Who makes your battery grip?
In the past, we've seen some posts about strange things happening when a 3rd party battery grip is used -- and the very simple test is to remove the grip and try using the camera without the grip for a while. That tends to clear up the problems and indicates a problem with the grip.
