Sx500is camera, video only takes still shots

I recently had to reset to factory settings, purchase and format a new sd card to get my camera to work at all. It still eill not take video but will do still shots on the movie setting, which shows up with a "standard" setting on the screen. Any recommendatiins as to what I can do?

When the camera is set to record movies and you press the shutter button, a still image is taken.  There is a different button used to start recording a movie.  It is located in the top-right corner of the back of the camera.  It should have a colored circle in the center of it.
