SD card wiped but can I restore photos from the camera itself REBEL T5i EOS 700D

Hi I took a heap of photos yesterday for my son's football team and when I got home I was downloading them onto my MacBook Air. Next thing they are no where to be found, SD card is empty and there is no way of retrieving them on my Mac, Ive tried everything. Any suggestions? Or are they gone for good?

To answer the question in your title, No, you cannot restore photos from "the camera itself".  The photos are on (or not) the SD card. The camera doesn't have any internal storage.

Hi and welcome to the forum:

The file management system of a camera is a lot less sophisticated than that of a computer, and that does not allow for such features.  Your best bet is to search for file recovery applications, for your Mac.  Some of my colleagues may have information on this as I use Windows.

Just to get the question out of the way, were you using a full-size SD card or a micro SD card with an adapter?

I see what you are getting at, and it's a good question!

To provide context to our OP, micro SD cards with adapters are notorious for not working reliably.  So, it is possible, if you are using that setup that your card may be rescued if you try re-inserting the micro SD card into the adapter and trying a re-read.
