Rebel XT Photos show up blank on computer but show up when CF card is in camera

Hi there! Pulled out my older Rebel XT and took photos on vacation. I got home and downloaded off the cf cards but they show up blank on the computer and in the digital photo professional system. When I put the cards back inside the camera I can still view the images. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

JPEG or RAW?

What computer?

How are you downloading the data? With a card reader?

I have tried connecting camera directly to computer and with a card read. Same results. Dell laptop.

JPEG or RAW?

Does the filesize match after transferring?

it shows no file size at all. i dug out my super old laptop that is running on windows 7 and had no issues :(. I do need to figure out who to fix so I can access on the newer laptop :).

I would try to format the card in the newer laptop, and try again.

I would suggest only formatting memory cards in the camera where they will be used. Computers will sometimes create a file system the camera cannot read and sometime place hidden files on the storage media that confuse some cameras.

In general, I agree with you, but we are in troubleshooting mode now.

Hi and welcome:
So, as I understand it, your old laptop running Windows 7 can display the images but not your current computer.  Can you please advise what kind of computer and what OS version that is?
Have you tried viewing images from cameras on it before?
