I have downloaded the software, tried all the suggestions and cant get my new rebel to load onto my mac either with the USB cord or to hook to the wifi.  I tried iphoto as well as photocapture.  I went into system preferences and followed those directions.  NOTHING. feeling frustrated and ready to return the camera.

Help please

I don't know if they are open today, July 4, but try to call Canon Support at 1-800-OK-CANON.

Now there's a case where Canon's US and UK support groups might want to work out a treadoff. The Brits could cover for the Americans on the 4th of July (definitely not a holiday in the UK!), while the Americans could handle the anniversary of BREXIT.  Smiley Happy

Try going into Applications folder and select Image Capture.

Be sure WiFi is turned off on camera if you are connecting via USB.
