1. Line up the colored dots.
2. Insert the rear end of the lens into the opening.
3. Turn the lens clockwise until you hear it click.

Do you mean you get an error message about the lens not communicating with the camera?
There are sevreral possibilities: 1. dirty contacts. carefully wipe contacts on lens and camera with a microfiber cloth. 2. sticky contacts. Gently push on the contacts in the camera body to be sure they travel freely. 3. failing conductor cables in lens. Lens will need repair/replacement depending on cost benefit comparison.

thanks for your response. I have tried the contact cleaning. I fear the latter "conductor cables". Will pursue a local shpo/dealer to determine. Thank you
