EOS Rebel T7 with the hot shoe center piece: Godox flash compatibility

I have the Canon Eos Rebel T7/2000D with the metal piece in the center in the hot shoe. Does this mean I can use Godox TT600 or I have to stick to Godox TT685II-C? I have Godox X3 trigger, I know with most the Rebel T7 doesn’t have that metal piece and they need use certain external flash but since mine does have it am I limited also and if so which external canon flash can I use?

Yes if you have the centre contact in the hotshoe you can use almost any flash/strobe with your camera. However you only get automatic flash exposure control if the flash has the other four pins for communication in the right place and it “speaks” Canon.

The Godox TT600 is a manual only flash, so you need to set a suitable flash power output setting for the combination of aperture, ISO and subject distance you are working with.

Thank you, I’m sorta new to photography and when it comes to DSLR. So I guess I’m better off using TT685ii-c.

With 3rd Party Gear there may be compatibility issues. Canon will not fix this. They can only ensure compatibility with their own gear.
