My canon rebel t5 is showing a screen that says "Firmware update program, update file cannot be found. Please check the memory card and reload the battery and try again." I have done this so many times and nothing works, I don't know what to do and I need help!

Hi and welcome to the forum:
Oddly, this sounds very familiar and I could swear there is an almost identical post somewhere, but whatever...
As per the instructions, you must download a compressed version of the update file to a computer and unpack it. If you are using a Windows computer, you need to run the Winzip file to unpack and reveal a file with an .FIR extension. On a Mac, I believe this is done transparently. You copy the FIR file to the root directory of a cleanly formatted, full-size SD card and install that in the camera. When you initiate the firmware function, it should then see the update and allow you to complete the process. Make sure you have a fully-charged battery for this and follow the instructions on screen.
cheers, TREVOR

In addition to Trevor's directions, confirm that you have download the file from the T5 support page and not inadvertently the T5i support page. That has happened to others.

Did you have any luck fixing this? I’ve been facing the same issue. Tried multiple different SD cards, eos utility, mac, windows, direct adding to root of SD card.

You should call Canon support so someone can talk you through it real time. 1-800-OK-CANON. If you haven’t already registered your camera go to the support site and register it. Then call.
