EOS R6 Mark II Body Availability

I’ve been looking to buy a canon r6 mark ii from Best Buy. Shows back ordered for months now. I don’t understand I can buy the camera with a lens but I can’t buy just the body. How can there be a shortage if they are available with the lens? Is there any news of when the back order will end? I need to get from Best Buy because of financing option they have.

Greetings,

Sorry to hear you are stuck at BB.  There are other retailers with body only in stock.   The camera comes 2 ways.  body only or with a kit lens.  It sounds like your BB is out of stock on the body only.  Maybe you can find it at another location?  Unless you have a surplus of points, they aren't that attractive of a place to buy.  The new points restrictions and expiration are poor.  They are a last resort for me.  Canon is out of stock too.  B&H is closed for passover this week.  Its available elsewhere, however.

The only reason I’m stuck with the BB is they have a finance plan with no interest if paid in a certain time. I have spent around $10,000 total in cameras, lenses, flash, etc… I am just using as a hobby which at a middle income is a lot for my hobby. I’ve been saving money to get this camera but I’m only half way there. I also need the adapter for my EF lenses which is another $100. I was hoping I could have got it before a vacation I’m going on next month. Unless I want to shell out another $300 for the lens it’s not going to happen by my trip. I’m just curious how can they have a camera with lens but not a camera. Why not have the camera and advertise you’ll sell the lens for three hundred more. That way anyone who wants the lens can get it and those that just want a camera can get it as well.

That has happened with other releases. Canon boxes the camera/lens together in a kit and seems to prioritize that production. Best Buy, as more of a department store than a camera store, would also likely prioritize folks who want to buy and shoot right away, so they order the kits.
