EOS M50 randomly crashing with green and pink lines

EOS M50 randomly crashing with green and pink lines. Does anyone have an idea of a solution or why this happens? During video recording it simply hangs, with green and pink lines and turns off. Just taking the battery out to be able to turn it on again. It's random. Sometimes it happens, losing the recording file. Any idea? It's not about overheating, it happens in a few minutes. It is directly connected to power. It's absurd to see other reports of the same issue and Canon not addressing it. I think about abandoning the brand and doing negative advertising. I bought the M50 thinking I wouldn't have a headache.

Hello cleitomar and JaimeSanche,

Thanks for checking in with us.

I wonder what memory card you're using when shooting videos. The camera does need a card that can handle a fast write speed, especially when shooting 4K.

I recommend that your memory card is at least an SDHC or SDXC Class 6 card, although Class 10 would be ideal.
Sometimes a card might be able to reach a certain maximum write speed, but it can't sustain that data rate for long. That's why some card makers have started to add Video Speed Class to their cards. For example, a V10 card should be able to sustain the data rate needed to capture 10 MB/s.

I have a EOS M6 that has just started doing the same thing. I bought a new sd card since I had been using the same one since I bought the camera 1 1/2 years ago. It’s still doing it. (I bought the same kind of card). Any other suggestions on what’s happening. I love this camera. I use it to shoot videos for my YT channel. It doesn’t matter if I’m using the battery (canon) or the ac adapter. Help

It needs professional service. It sounds like the sensor is going. First get a brand new top quality SD card that is exactly the one recommended in your manual. If that doesn't fix it call Canon.

Hi cleitomar,

If trying a new card like Nick2020 recommends doesn't resolve the issue we would recommend sending the camera in for repair. Lines like you are describing can either be a malfunction with the camera sensor, the rear camera LCD, or the memory card. If this is happening with multiple memory cards that leaves a malfunction in the camera that would need service.
