EOS 250D - Both LCD and external monitor on - How?

I have an old EOS 250D that I've used for a few years now.  Does the job for me and my youtube vids.  I finally upgraded and bought an external monitor.  How do I keep the on camera LCD from turning off when I plug in my external monitor?  I need it to stay on for a couple reasons:

1. My external monitor is fixed to facing forward so I use the LCD to rough frame my shot.
2. My external monitor will not control my camera so I still need my LCD to set options for a shot.

Welcome.

There is no way to use the HDMI port and the rear display at the same time.  When you plug in a video cable the signal to the rear display is rerouted to the video port.

I tried and didn't find anything.  I truly apologize I'm not as awesome as you are in finding the answer.  I even tried ChatGPT before posting here and it gave items to try.  I hope when you are in need of assistance you find friendlier people.

Thank you.  That is truly a bummer.  Now I'll need to continually plug and unplug the external monitor.  Unplug for setting up shot with options and then plug in when I move in front of camera for final framing.  Hoping this constant plugging doesn't eventually break the port.

Except for the most expensive high end models, all Canon models behave that way.  

Many external monitors have an HDMI output port.  Perhaps you could purchase a second monitor for use at the camera.  Use that output port to send a video signal to your first monitor.

Thanks again.  I'll look into that.  I'd need to have an external monitor that would allow me to control the camera options.  Like touching for focus, setting shot options, etc.  I'm sure they exist, but may be out of my budget.  For now I play on buying a short male hdmi mini to normal hdmi female.  I'll leave that always in the camera and continuously plug/unplug from the female end.  That way all the port stress and use should be on the female end of the short adaptor cable.  If that wears out, much cheaper to replace vs fixing the hdmi mini port in the camera.  Hope that made sense.  Again, thank you for your reply.  Really is appreciated.

You can use the controls/buttons on the camera to change many of the shoot options without using the LCD touchscreen. The cameras are designed that way as some users in cold climates or with gloves cannot use the touchscreen.

Thanks.  I'll look into using the menu button instead of the lcd touch screen.  I'm used to simply tapping the screen and not using the the menu button.  This may work for me as well, thanks again.
