Canon rebel t2i won't take pictures on Auto focus

My Canon Rebel t2i won't take a shot on auto focus, but it will on manual focus.  It flashes busy and a green round dot blinks in the lower right hand corner of the viewfinder.

That means it isn't getting a focus confirmation in AF mode. Are you indoors? Is it too dark? When you are in manual focus are you focusing lens and do you get green dot then?

Go outside in bright sunlight and focus on a subject about 10 feet away. If you don't get green dot then there is some thing wrong. Try another lens to see if it is your camera or your lens.

I put on my other lens, and the camera worked fine. I guess I need to just take this lens in for repair?

Thank you for the help!

Depending on the lens compare repair cost vs purchase price for a Canon refurb from the Canon eStore.
