I have Canon M50 MII, mini hdmi cable to hdmi into capture card into usb port on Macbook Pro with Monterey. Previously it worked on Catalina but since upgrading to Monterey I cannot get my camera to sync with my Macbook. Tried 3 HDMI cables with mini hdmi converter ( took 1 from my TV and 1 from my smart box) but still not working. If I open OBS on Macbook nothing happens. I installed canon utility 3 and 2 and it is greyed out meaning it not recognising the input.
If I duplicate this exercise on a Windows 11 laptop with OBS, the OBS screen shows colour bars but also nothing happens.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated...

Is your camera still sending out a clean HDMI signal?
Instead of plugging the HDMI cable into your USB adapter, have you tried connecting the HDMI cable to monitor to check the signal quality. Image looks good on a monitor, then you can probably rule out the camera as being the issue.
Of course, some AC adapters can cause signal failure, too, due to grounding loops.

Clean HDMI output...if I connect my Canon to TV via HDMI, no signal. It almost like a setting on camera that I miss.

If you put the camera into playback mode and it's not sending a signal through the HDMI port/cable, there may be a problem. You might want to contact support for some one-on-one troubleshooting to get that cleared up! They're at 800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666) Monday through Friday from 9am to 9pm (ET), and Saturdays from 9am to 8pm (ET).

Also, please note the below option is not visible under camera privacy settings... no camera is showing

This option will only be visable when you use a camera that is being controlled by the system and is being seen as a camera. For example, by plugging the camera in by USB, and then using the EOS Webcam Utility. The EOS Webcam Utility is recognized as a camera, so your Mac will recognize it as a camera. Your streaming device may not be registered as a camera, but as a streaming device. Since the EOS M50 Mark II doesn't support USB Video Capture (UVC), it will not be recognized immediately as a controllable camera by your Mac, only select models of our newest cameras have that feature for streaming right out of the box with no added software or hardware required. Support can help verify this, too!
