Cannon EOS Rebel T6 not connecting to iPhone

NicoleBix

I’ve downloaded pictures for years using the wifi function from the phone. For some reason, my iPhone will no longer connect to the camera.  The last time I did this was probably a month ago. I have an iPhone 11 with iOS 16.4. The camera is a rebel EOS (5?).

Greetings,

The Canon Connect App is offered by Canon for free.

Canon Camera Connect on the App Store (apple.com)

As mentioned previously, you may want to start over, resetting the Camera's network settings, and remove the saved profile for the camera in the App.

Hi Nicole!

You should be able to see the specific camera model on the front, top right corner!

Nicole,

Have you changed phones in the meantime?

If not, your best bet would probably be to delete the wifi settings from both your camera and your phone and starting over.

Have you been using Canon Camera Connect to handle your downloads in the past?

Steve Thomas

I’m using the same phone for a few years now. Up until now my phone has connected to the wifi of the camera fine. It may fuss a bit because there is no internet connection, but there wasn’t an issue.

Nicole,

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I don't know why it would just up and quit working.

What app on your phone have you been using in the past?

Perhaps if you re-installed the app?

An app I have been using is called Camera Connect and Control. You can use it either wired or wirelessly. At the time I got it, it was free to use for 3 days, and then $9.99 to purchase. I understand the price has gone up since then.

Steve Thomas

Thanks for your advice. I’m using the cannon camera connect. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and will try to reset the wifi today. If that doesn’t work I guess I’ll try a different app and see if that works better.

So erasing the disabling the wifi on the camera and then enabling it (and resetting network connections on the phone) seems to have done the trick. When re-enabling the wifi, I had to re-setup the iPhone and camera connection on both the phone and camera.
