Camera recommendation for novice: Band, wildlife, and outdoor photography

I'm looking to upgrade from my little M200, I'd like to keep it under $1000 for body and a single lens to start. I'm a beginner but will be taking some photography classes at the local college in spring. I do a lot of pictures and video of my wife's band and other local bands, I also have a interest in wildlife and outdoor since we live in a mountain community and I spend time in the outdoors. I know I will need different lenses for my two areas of interest, the first is my first priority.

Pics and videos will be used for the band's website and social media and used to show venue owners to book gigs, I have the ability to do the audio recording separately and add to any video I take.

The EOS M series has been discontinued and replaced by the EOS R series. The EOS R Series uses a new lens mount called the RF Mount. The EOS M series uses the EF-M Mount. These 2 lens mounts are incompatible and lenses cannot be adapted to work on either system. So you’ll have to restart your lens collection with new RF or RF-S lenses. I have 2 suggestions below. These are 2 lens kits. They both have a standard zoom lens and a telephoto lens. The EOS R100 Is an entry level camera. While the EOS R50 is more of a middle of the range camera. I would’ve also suggested the EOS R10 but that is out of your budget. If you do plan on using an external flash/ speedlite with the EOS R50 you’ll need to use the AD-E1 hot shoe adapter. This camera lacks the legacy 5 pins to make older speedlites work. The EOS R100 doesn’t have this limitation. But it doesn’t support newer speedlites with the new digital hot shoe. Make sure you stick with Canon Authorized Dealers. Such as B&H Photo NY, Adorama or KEH for camera purchases.
