Camera + lens bundle selection

I have Camera + lens bundle purchase options to choose from. Price difference is around $100.

Canon EOS 2000D with EF 75-300mm lens

Or Canon EOS R100 with RF-S 55-210mm lens.

For wildlife and bird photography, will the 300mm optical zoom still be a benefit over the new mirrorless technology for farther distance shooting?

No, the 75-300 does not have IS, while the 55-210 does. This will allow you to crop to a tighter image.

Go with the R100, that is the future of the technology.

Thank you for your insight. Very helpful.

Agreed, the IS and overall improvement in the AF are going to perform significantly better with an R system.

  • 2000D - 18 MP APS-C sensor - 9 AF points
  • R100 - 24.1 MP APS-C sensor - Stills: Max. 3975 positions - eye and face tracking

Even though the R100 is bottom of the range it's better than the 2000D. Plus the RF-S 55-210mm is a sharper lens and has image stabilization. Some of that sharpness will make up for the shorter focal length because you can crop harder.
IMHO it's the R system all day long

Thank you. Your feedback is very helpful.
