5d iii won't detect faces when shooting in live view face detection mode

When shooting in live view mode my 5d iii will not detect faces. Focus stays in center boc or I have to toggle box to subjects face. Have selected face detection in live view settings not lives view or quick mode.

Check your camera's shooting mode(s), especially the AF mode. The 5D3 has AF "case" modes, like the 7D2. I am not certain if the cameras can do face detection when the camera is in AI Servo mode. Use One Shot mode for face detection.
