Hey everyone,

I just received an email from B&H Photo, informing me that my RF 200-800mm F6.3-9 IS USM lens is on its way, it shipped, and I should receive it on November 4, 2024.   Dang and I was just telling Trevor that I couldn't wait for it.  I guess TomRamsey was right, the wait time is getting shorter.  I ordered mine on September 18, 2024, and receiving it on November 4, 2024, only one and a half months (45 days).  Woo-Hoo, I was thinking that it would take 3 to 4 months.  Rick, did you get yours yet?  Let us know?

I guess It's a Halloween / Thanksgiving present for me...

Hey Rick,

That's great!  Now we'll be able to get those long-distance shots that were to far away for the 150-600mm and or get better shots for those that are closer.  I'm thinking that the RF200-800 may be redundant to my 150-600mm so I might be selling the 150-600mm.  I'll see how it goes.  Are you also getting yours on Monday,  November 4th?

Cheers,
Joe

Hey Rick,

I agree with you, "it's going to be a long weekend".  I just ordered a Hoya 95mm EVO Antistatic UV (0) Slim Lens Filter for my RF200-800mm lens.  Good price at Amazon at $149.00, and I'll get it Saturday Nov 2nd.  It's antistatic coating repels dust, water repellent - water beads up and wipes away easily, scratch resistant, stain resistant - protects against exposure to ink markers, etc., 99.8% Light. Transmission.  Hoya is one of the better-quality brands in the market, made in Japan.

Cheers,
Joe

I know you will love it. I wanted Canon to make that lens ten years ago. They finally have and can't keep up with demand.

I'm shopping for a 95mm filter too.  Haven't decided which yet.

Rick,

I bought the Hoya 95mm EVO Antistatic UV (0) Slim Lens Filter which gives 99.8% Light Transmission so it's like not using a filter at all, no distortion   No photo distortion.  Hoya filters were ranked #1 in 2024 by most reputable reviewers and in the top 5 list in others.   They're made in Japan.  Here's the link: https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/buying-guides/best-filters-for-photography

If you want to spend more money then go for B+W Schneider Kreuznach, made in Germany ranked #2.   The Hoya optics are better or just as good, the difference is B+W are more expensive and made in Germany. While Hoya are made in Japan and more reasonable priced.  Then there's TIFFEN which are like Hoya, but are U.S. made in NY and are also reasonable priced.  I also went with Hoya because I couldn't find that many good brands offering 95mm lens filters in the market.  Canon's are priced over $200.00 plus.  For me the lens filter is primarily to protect the lens optics.  Let me know what you go with.  😀

Cheers,
Joe
