Hi everyone, I'm new to photography (classes pending) and I'm new here so I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong place. I've got a Canon EOS 350D/Digital Rebel XT. Someone gave me a Tamron 672D AF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 LD Tele Macro Lens Canon EF EOS. The camera has an EF/EF-S lens mount and I thought the lens was EF, but it doesn't even come close to fitting. Is there an adapter I can get or do I just take a free lens I can't use in stride?

Depending on what exact mount this is (I think Brian is correct on it being for Nikon) AND if this is a lens that will work for an APS-C camera, there is probably an adapter that you could find at B&H. Some are inexpensive, some are not. Also, some lenses from different manufactures play nice with other brand cameras, some do not. I have a handful of various adapters, and often use different old lenses. Most end up being manual after mounting. I am perfectly fine with manual focus. Most people are not.
What I would do if I were in your shoes... take the lens to a local camera shop. Ask if it is worth anything in trade for a lens that will work with your camera. You might find a good discount on a new Canon EF-S lens... OR you might even find a nice used Canon lens.

If it is indeed an EOS lens, it should fit. Can you post an image of the lens mount of the lens?

The one on the right is the Tamron lens that came with the camera when I bought it. Thanks.

The lens on the left of the photo with the silver coloured mount is not a Canon EF mount lens. I think it looks to be a Nikon fit lens.

The Tamron lens has a Minolta mount (same as Sony Alpha), not a Nikon mount. The lens contact on Nikon lenses are different.

The lens has "Tamron 672D AF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 LD Tele Macro Lens Canon EF EOS" printed on it? Look at the front element it should have the correct mounting printed there. If it just said that on the box all bets are off as to what it fits.

Not wanting to be a snob but that lens is not worth spending the money for an adapter even is there is one.

While Tamron makes some excellent lenses, this was not one of them at all. Personally, I do like old and odd lenses (but that's depending on the lens). I agree with you 100% on this particular lens. I think they should trade it in.

It is not unheard of for folks to send their lenses back to Tamron to convert it from one mount to another. If that happens, they might not change the nomenclature on the lens.
