I've been holding out for a RF 35mm L-Series prime lens only to be disappointed by a "hybrid" photo/video lens that, to be honest, seems geared toward video with photography as an afterthought.
Has anyone on here heard anything, or is there something out there that I missed, about a photography-centric RF 35mm f/1.4 L USM lens? Or am I going to be holding out for a long time?
Before anyone recommends it, I have zero interest in using an EF series lens and an adaptor.

What is your question concerning the Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens? Are you asking if it can be used for stills? The answer is yes and it will do a good job. The VCM simply means Voice Coil Motor if that has a concern for you. This lens seems to have a significant amount of distortion but certainly correctable in post.
You said you are not interested in any EF lens so that means you are really not interested in the best lens available in 35mm because the EF version doesn't have that much distortion and neither of them have the IQ of the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens.

Appreciate your opinion but it doesn't address my post and really makes an unjust assumption about what I do or do not want and why.
My question was if anyone heard of or knows of a non-hybrid 35mm RF 'L' series lens coming out anytime soon. I'd prefer to stay on that topic and that one alone.

Canon doesn't share lens roadmaps often if at all. Given the recent introduction of the RF 35mm F1.4L VCM model I don't expect a similar non-VCM model with say USM motor in the near future.
Is there some feature that is important to you that is missing in the recent RF 35mm lens? For example the new lens is smaller and lighter than the old EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM but limited to f/16 at the end of the range vs f/22 on the EF model.

Joe I was simply responding to the first part of your query. You seem to indicate there was or you were seeing a problem with the RF model.
As to whether any of us knows what Canon is going to come out with that answer is no. Not even Canon Rumors gets it right a lot of the time. And they are supposed to know.

Welcome to the Canon Community.
I am seeking clarification on your objections to this lens model. Canon seems to have labeled the lens “hybrid” for one basic reason, the addiction of an Aperture Control Ring, which is useful for videographers. The aperture ring can be “disabled” by switching it to the “A” position, which gives complete control of Av to the camera body.
I [often] point out that lenses that are great for photography does not mean the lens is also great for videography. This rule of thumb is mostly true going the other way, too. Good videography lenses do not always make for good lenses for photography, mainly because many cinema lenses are [fully manual]. Today’s photographers seem to prefer auto focusing, fully automatic lenses.
This lens can function as either a fully manual lens for videographers, or as a fully automatic lens for photographers, which is probably why Canon has labeled it as “hybrid”. I am not [aware] of any IQ issues such as barrel distortion or vignetting. I would be surprised to those issues in a 35mm lens.
As for when Canon will release a “non-hybrid” lens, your guess is as good as mine. Camera rumor sites are filled with such predictions, most of which do not pan out as originally predicted. AFAIK, there are no rumors of another RF 35mm L series lens rumored for future release.
The only improvement Canon could make to this lens would an f/1.2L version.
