RF50mm F1.8 How to zoom in and out

Hello! I just bought the EOS R50 with the RF 50mm F1.8 lens. I am having trouble figuring out how to zoom in and out. When I turn the camera on any of the different settings it appears very zoomed in. I’ve checked to make sure digital zoom is off, but I still can’t seem to figure out how to zoom out or in. Thanks!

The RF 50mm F1.8 lens is not a zoom lens. It is a prime and will never zoom in and out.

Is there a basic lens that I should use instead of the 50mm 1.8 that zooms in and out?

As my colleague Ernie said your camera should’ve came with the RF-S 18-45mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens. The camera can also come with an alternative lens such as the RF-S 18-150mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens. It can also come as a double lens kit with the RF-S 18-45mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM RF-S 55-210mm F/5-7.1 IS STM lenses.

The RF 50mm F1.8 lens is a poor choice as an only lens. My suggestion is to return it and buy a real zoom. What you need is the EOS R50 RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM with the kit lens.

Return it? What vendor wants a used lens back for a full refund?

"I just bought the EOS R50 with the RF 50mm F1.8 lens."

Most reputable retail stores and outlets offer return privileges. You find that odd? It is common these days, my  friend.

And that return policy is usually time bound and comes with the proviso that the item is unused.

Certainly possible but worth a try. Don't you think?
