Can someone suggest what might be happening to the edges of my pictures? This picture was taken using an eos r6 mark ii, but I had the same result with eos r8 last week. Lens was rf 24-240. The upload makes this picture look like the whole thing is soft, but it’s actually sharp - the problem is just the edges.
had the same result from an eos r8 last week…photo taken with rf 24-240 lens.

I found an extensive discussion about this topic on the Adobe Community. It is, in fact, a problem in moving from V2 to V3 of the Adobe lens profile for the Canon RF 24-240mm. See: https://community.adobe.com/t5/camera-raw-bugs/p-canon-24-240-lens-profile-v3/idc-p/14834475
The fix for now is reverting to V2. Interestingly, I found the same discussion from 2021 in moving from V1 to V2 of this lens profile. The solution then, as now, was to move to the previous version. Eventually the bug was fixed in V2. This has been reported to Adobe, so presumably they will fix the V3 issue at some point.

It is a known Lightroom issue that has been around for years.

It's not known to me and I have just topped 96,000 photos in LR. I've never seen it.

Another thread here about the same Lightroom issue https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/EF-RF-Lenses/Canon-RF-24-105-2-8-weird-edge-stretch-issues-when-z...

Coincidence proves nothing except coincidence. Again topping 96k and never seen it.

It was a relief finding out that this was a problem with Adobe Lens Profiles that had an easy fix and not a hardware issue.

I am not a You Tuber, review reader or keyboard jockey and solely rely on what I experience myselt. Now I know there are mostly You Tuber's and review proponents on this forum, not hard to spot them, and I suppose that's not all bad it's just not me..
If it fixed the OPs problem great.

New update from Adobe that solves the lens profile issue for RF24-240.

I agree - it was an issue with Adobe lens correction profiles after a recent update and happened with a couple of RF lenses, but Adobe corrected it with a later update, so make sure your software is updated.
