The serial number 22551 cannot be referenced using the date code matrix found by Goggle.
Might someone have an idea when this this lens was manufactured or can point me in the right direction.
Appreicate any help I can get on this.
Thanks
Jim

What do you mean? How long will it work or last? If so you will never wear it out. It will out last the camera and/or likely you!

Was it owned by a rental company? Those lenses can take a LOT of use before things start wearing out and the lens gets sloppy. Most private owners are not likely to have used the lens enough to put much wear on them. Usually the condition of the body is a good clue as to how much use it's had. It's hard to not wear off paint, get little nicks & scratches, etc. if the lens is being used heavily. So if the lens "looks" good on the outside, it's probably had very low use.
