Is there an adapter which will allow me to use my old AE 1 camera lenses on my new Rebel T3?

They exist.  You'll be looking for an "FD to EF" adapter.

The consensus seems to be that its not worth it, though.  Older lenses aren't that awesome of quality, and then the quality worsens depending on the adapter.  Also, you'd have to use the lens manually (e.g. no autofocus or electronic iris control).

Here's one page describing the situation: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/eosfaq/manual_focus_EOS.html

Not an adapter but a mount conversion, no corrective optics needed for infinity focus.
