I am considering buying an ef lens from a buddy of mine. He lost the receipt and warranty paper that came with the lens. The lens can be registered on the canon usa site so I'm thinking it is a usa model. I called canon support and they could not help me even with the serial number in hand. Is there a way to confirm it is a usa model, or does it not really matter at this point since I am not first owner. Lens was purchased 10 months ago. Thanks

I bought a new 200-800mm RF lens in Canada, 4 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago it came up with Error 60 and will not work. Canon Uk will NOT repair it under warranty. Hope yours is fine.

There has to be more to the story than that.

Not necessarily. As far as Canon UK is concerned it could be considered gray market since it was “imported” from a non-UK source.

Ah, but yes there is. What is the reason for the lens to became non-working may be the factor.
