Hi,
I'm trying to repair a Canon EF 35-75 1 : f3.5-4.5. It has a broken focus mechanism. I have looked on Youtube and cant find a video that shows a full disassembly. I have it partially disassembled it but I can figure out the steps to get the remaining components disassembled so that I can fix it.
The pics show my how far I have got.
How can complete the disassembly ?

Greetings ,
This would have been a prime candidate for midwest camera repair dot com
What you have now are a bunch of pieces and parts. In many cases a lens can't just be taken apart and put back together. Sometimes things have to be calibrated. I'm not sure repair videos exist. If you can't find them by searching YouTube, then you see the predicament you are in. I hope it works out.

How much does the "focus mechanism" cost? I hope less than about $40-$50 bucks because that's all your lens is worth.

This is intended more as a learning exercise hence starting with a cheep lens. the inital attempt would be to use plastic welding method or a glue. I doubt I will be able to buy parts for this lens.

OK, then full speed ahead. Learning is good and experience learning is best.

May I ask if you ever got any further with this please?
I'm stuck at exactly the same point, with the addition of having pried off the zoom rubber ring. That exposes a large hole in the metal zoom control ring, which looks like it might line up with a screw, but there's nothing to be seen anywhere as the zoom is rotated. I also noticed the metal tab showing within the rectangular window (third photo) can be pushed over to an indentation (towards the top as shown here), where it could then push down and clear the plastic if things were pulled apart. But the metal tab doesn't seem to attach to anything significant - maybe just the autofocus mechanism?
Even by the standard of zoom lenses, this one is a real Chinese puzzle! Thanks if anyone can help.
