EOS slr film camer lens comaptibility

Hi,

I recently bought a Canon EOS 600 slr (film) ebay for my son, who’s interested in trying old style, chemical photography.

I need to get a basic lens (a 28-80mm or 35 - 70mm) cheaply.

I guess I can get one on ebay, but can anyone tell me about compatibility?

So,  if I were to buy another Canon Eos film SLR model - 300, 500, 700, 1000, 5000 - WITH lens, would the lens fit the Eos 600?

Any advice would be very welcome.

Regards

Ash

All EF mount lenses are compatible with all EOS bodies, whether film or digital.

EF-S, however, are compatible with  EOS APS-C digital bodies.   You'll have no trouble using EF lenses with the EOS 600.  The lenses will retain AF capability, too.

EOS 1DX and 1D Mk IV and less lenses then before!

Many thanks, ebigg1.

Thanks for your quick response.

If he really wants to go old school, he should get an EF 50mm/1.8 and zoom with his feet. Why spoil him with a zoom?

Haha.

True old school would be oils and a paint brush, wouldn't it?

I'm counting myself lucky that he can think beyond pixels.

All the best.

I think ~180 years is a pretty old school.
