I have an EF-S lens, 55-250mm using it with canon 700d. So there’s this ring where we put the cap to cover the lens, that’s broken. I would like to know if I can get it replaced and what can be the cost. If not replaceable what’s the best I can do. Attached an image of it

It’s probably not cost effective to repair. Is it intact enough that you could screw a filter in? If so you could either use the clear filter, or if you aren’t a filter person buy a cheap one and remove the glass. Then the cap will install on the filter.

That part # is YG2-2454-000 but due to the age of the lens, Canon may not stock it. It may be possible to find a replacement on eBay or elsewhere. That part is common for both the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS and EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II.
It is held in place by three screws under the circular name ring around the top. The cover ring is held in place by double sided tape which should pull loose easily.

Yes. I had searched US Camera for 55-250 parts. That piece showed up but was sold out.

Thanks Mike. Can we replace that part ourselves? What if I don’t manage to get stock of the item, does a ring with same diameter of different lens work(ex: 18-55mm ef-s)?

That part is easy to change yourself. You can’t swap parts from other lenses unless it is the exact same part, with the same part number.
This video about cleaning the 55-250 shows how to remove the front ring.

Refurb replacement is $239 from Canon. Not cost effective like the guys said. This is one of the few times I would try the repair on my own.

Yeah at the cost of refurbishing it, I can buy a new lens. Best thing is a new age camera itself than the old age lens.

JRH has the solution. Simple and cheap. If there isn't enough good threads left on the lens simply glue the filter ring on.
