Hello All,
My EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II suddenly started having this Err 01 with my Canon 5D MkII and my 40D as well. Other lenses work well on these two bodies. It works at 2.8; but any higher, I get the Error. I have cleaned the contacts.
I see that others were having this problem as well. My lens is about 11-12 years old now. Thoughts on how to get this fixed? Can I take it to a local repair shop if any? Or should this go to Canon?
Thanks!

That lens is known for ribbon cable failures that present the problem you are seeing. I don't believe Can repairs that lens any more.
