Does your RF 70-200 f2.8 record intermediate focal length?

Slowly zooming my RF 70-200 f2.8, the focal length reported jumps from 70mm to 75mm and up in inconsistent intervals (100, 135, 200 all spot on, but inbetween the focal length reported is spotty). There’s no way to get 71, 72, 73mm etc to show up in review… not that it makes much difference in actual use, but is this normal?

This might vary by lens model.

I've just looked in Lightroom at a couple of RF lenses to see what focal length was recorded.

  • RF 28-70mm F2L - every single focal length between 28 and 70mm
  • RF-S 18-150mm - 18, 24, 28 then almost every 1mm thereafter
  • RF 24-70mm F2.8L - every single focal length between 24 and 70mm

Those are the lenses I have several thousand images to be sure with. Also the EOS R10 with RF-s 18-150mm only shows 18mm, then 24, then 28mm on the camera LCD as you zoom.
