Aesthetic defect on my 100-400mm L IS II

Has anyone had an issue with small metal plate coming off top of tripod collar flange? I was out in field one day this summer and did not realize it could pop off. I thought flange was one solid piece but now I know it is not. Cannot seem to make headway with Canon online support. I initially filled out a repair form and received a reply back that it was going to cost several hundred dollars to replace the flange cover. CRAZY!!! I previously owned the version 1 and never had issue with any physical defects.

Hello. can you post a photo of the area where the part is missing?

If you mean the circled part it doesn't look like it is available as a separate piece.

eBay has one for $140.Screenshot 2022-11-30 103034.jpg You could get a third-party foot for a lot less.

Greetings,

The tripod collars on Super Zooms are valued like gold bars. These are something you hope you'll never lose or will need to be repaired/replaced.

B&H has 3rd party replacements if the cost of an OEM replacement cannot be justified. Stay away from anything plastic.
