canon Pixma MX712 outputs page when executes but no print appears on page. All settings are normal.

Canon Pixma MX712 printer executes print command but paper page output is blank. All settings are normal. Ink cartridges are full. There are no error messages. Windows 7

Hi PeterJay,

To determine if the inkjet nozzles are dispensing the ink correctly, we can print a nozzle check pattern from the printer.  To do this, please follow these steps:

You need to prepare: a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper
1. Make sure that the power is turned on.
2. Make sure that one or more sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper are loaded in the cassette.
3. Open the paper output tray gently.
4. Print the nozzle check pattern.
(1) Press the MENU button.
(2) Select  Setup, then press the OK button.  The setup menu screen will appear.
(3) Select  Maintenance, then press the OK button.  The Maintenance screen will appear.
(4) Select Print nozzle check pattern, then press the OK button.

The confirmation screen will appear.
(5) Select Yes, then press the OK button.  The nozzle check pattern will be printed and two pattern confirmation screens will appear on the LCD.
5. Examine the nozzle check pattern.
-> Refer to [ Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern ] within this webpage.

Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern

Examine the nozzle check pattern, and clean the print head if necessary.
1. Check if there are missing lines in the pattern (1) or horizontal white streaks in the pattern (2).

(A) No missing lines/No horizontal white streaks
(B) Lines are missing/Horizontal white streaks are present
(C) Number of sheets printed so far
If the nozzle check pattern did not print correctly (including the black grid that appears above the colors), performing a series of cleanings and deep cleanings on the printer may resolve the issue.  To perform the cleanings, please follow the steps located at the link below:
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, all the steps to resolve the print head and ink problems have not resolved the problem. All other features of the printer work save for the print function. I am now resorting to using an old Canon Pixma iP6210D connected in parallel. This stop-gap solution is only temporary until I get a new printer, possibly not a Canon given the short life of the MX712. Over to you.
