TR8620a pauses then stops in middle of page

My months-old TR8620a printer is episodically pausing while printing a page, then, after 4-5 minutes ejecting the unfinished page. This is happening with increased regularity. I am printing a large document using 32lb double-sided matte paper placed in the rear tray. It's printed 268 pages so far with excellent results, but the ever increasing halting then ejecting partially printed pages makes me think something is seriously wrong. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Note that the manual says paper weights up to 28 lb are supported, so that may be your problem.

Thanks for your response. The problem shouldn't be the weight of the paper. 28 lb is the limit only for plain paper in the cassette. For photo paper one must use the rear tray, which takes up to 85 lb. The manual is strangely coy about this, only stating--as far as I can find--the limit for plain paper in the cassette. For a photo paper, 32 lb is actually quite light. My text doc has many illustrations, which is why I'm using photo paper, and, after all, I've successfully printed 268 pages. The Canon site itself, concerning the TR6820 series, is clear about the various weight limits.

  • Plain paper: From 17 to 28 lb (64 to 105 g /m2)

  • Canon Photo Paper: Up to 85 lb (Premium Fine Art Rough)

  • Card Stock (Up to 74 lb.)
