TR8520 Scanning partially black pages

rdemarest
Apprentice

Hello All,

My TR8520 has started to partially scan the documents I place on the glass for printing or for scanning.  Seems like the scanner is moving all of the way across the documents possibly?  Sounds like it is working correctly, but it is scanning and printing documents that have 100% black sections at the bottom of the document (scanner not moving far enough to the right?).

I deleted driver from my Mac running on 10.14.6 and reinstalled but scanner/printer is doing same thing.

I tried alligning print head.  Printer produced allignment document, and when placed in Scanner bed and hitting ok I immediatlely get a 5100 Printer Error code requesting printer be turned off/on and checked again.  Probelm persists, so I am reaching out to Canon community for HELP!

Printer functions normally and prints full page(s) if I request print of document from files/internet, scanner/copier seems to be issue.

Appreciate your time,

R

Hi rdemarest and becannon.

Based on the error message and the outcome of the partial scanning, the scanning assembly or its connected components are bad, and the printer will need to be replaced.  If you're located within the U.S., you may register the printer and access support through https://mycanon.usa.canon.com

If you're located outside the U.S., you may find your local branch of Canon through the map at https://global.canon/en/support.
