Hi,

The print head would be on the ink cartridge itself. Did you recently replace the Black or Color ink cartridge?

We look forward to your reply.

Hello ArthurJ yes I did replace the black and color ink. After I tried replacing them I received a error message saying to install the ink cartridge correctly I took the ink out of the printer. Then the original problem I asked about happened.

Hello Andy444,
The answer was given by ArthurJ, that "The print head would be on the ink cartridge itself." meaning? you're somehow not putting that cartridge in approprately!
I had this same issue, so, I took out the new ink cartridge that I had insert in the printer, put back in the old cartridge--just to ensure that all was well. The error went away. So, I then took back out the old cartridge and put back in the new cartridge and everything worked well; no more error.

I have tried taking out the new and replacing with the old and it did not work for me. with the old in, the cartridges moved, whereas with the new it did not, but then I still got the error message.  Any other suggestions?

I have tried taking out the new and replacing with the old and it did not work for me. with the old in, the cartridges moved, whereas with the new it did not, but then I still got the error message.   I also tried unplugging it and plugging back in.  It will not let me turn it off, choose menu or anything else.  Any other suggestions?

Hi,

Could you take a picture of the ink cartridges you are using and attach it to your reply.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Nothing works! This thing is junk.

hello Arthur,
I know this is an old thread, but I have the same problem.  the error first started as "check alignment" then I powered off and back on the printer, and the error went away and I was able to print about 6 pages (I don't print very much), but I came in Yesterday to print something (almost two weeks after my last print job, and about 7 weeks since I changed out the ink cartridges.  and I received the error "Install the print head correctly".  I checked and noticed that the print cartridges are not even moving, even though the clear ribbon does move.  It appears to me that the ink holder itself has come off of the connecter that makes it move from side to side.  I have tried to manually pick it up but it only moves about 1/4 of an inch up, and won't move backwards to try put it on top of the ribbon, and the long metal bar at the bottom does not seem to have anything that would catch the bottom of the sliding tray that holds the ink cartridges either, so I am now stuck and unable to do anything.  This printer is only about 18 months old, and is out of warranty, but it only cost me about $60 or so.  I am wondering if it would be cheaper to just buy a new one, or is there a quick fix that I can do to get it working again?  I have called around for repair services, and they all charge at least $50.00 to work on it.  Do you have any suggestions?

I bought new cartridges and it fixed it. They should have expiration dates on them. The bad ones were unused, but several months old.
