Pixma MG2522 doesn't print on 8.5 x 11 glossy photo paper?

I'm trying to print on glossy photo paper, but i'm limited to 4x6 inches, even though the paper is 8.5 x 11 inches. When I try to set it to 8.5 x 11, I get an error. Is there a fix to this?

Hi TourWillem,

Printing on letter sized photo paper is not supported with the PIXMA MG2522.

Except I have been printing on 8.5 by 11 glossy photo paper. It had no problem printing on it as long as I was printing one photograph per page and leaving the majority of the page blank. But the minute that I try and put multiple photographs on that page to not waste all of that paper it suddenly has a problem with it. It allowed me to print on an 8 and a half by 11 paper that was glossy photo paper as long as my print area was only the top four by five in corner of it. And I don't understand because That's not the same thing at all as saying that it will only print on the 4x5 glossy photo paper. That's not the same thing at all it clearly has the capability that it could because it handles it just fine as long as I'm wasting a ton of paper and printing one photograph per page. So that to me sounds like an intentional obstacle that has been written into the code of the machine in order to force people to buy different paper. Or waste a ton of photo paper. It has every single ability to print four photographs on an eight and a half by 11 page of paper. You're telling me that the glossy finish on the paper makes that big of a difference that it renders the entire printer incapable of doing that job? Why? There's no logical reason for that to be the case except as a planned purposeful flaw in the machine.

This is NOT an acceptable thing to not be supported by any printer, Patrick.

It can clearly print on the entire page if you don't select that type of paper, it just doesn't look as good. I'd be interested to know why any serious manufacturer would cripple their product in such a frustrating way.

If I don't locate some workaround or hack that allows this product to work as it should, I will be returning mine to Walmart as defective and will purchase another brand from now on.
