PIXMA MX922 PPD file availability for Chromebook support

nmstefanski

Hi, I'm using a Chromebook with the PIXMA MX922. I used to be able to print using Google Cloud Print, but Google has depreciated that service. Google Support has said that to try to manually connect to this printer, I need the printer's PPD file. I can't find this file listed under any of the printer drivers or downloads. Anyone know how to get a hold of this file?

In case anyone is finding this thread looking for help, there's another one on the Canon forums where a user posted a solution. Someone on reddit created a PPD file for the printer, and it worked for me. Search for "Canon MX922 PPD" on r/chromeos and follow their instructions.

Here's the other thread: https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Multifunction-Support/Printing-from-Chromebook-to-MX920-o...

Thanks to user MaganiaSoulHrt for the tip!

Hi nmstefanski,

The ChromeOS does not have native printing support for the PIXMA MX922.  Please view the following article for further information:

You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002.  They're available weekdays and Saturdays after 11 AM ET (8 AM PT). Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
