when printing with the PIXMA MG2522 is it possible to override the color sensing feature of the printer
and print in black only to preserve the color ink?

Hi hjpr6ft3,
You can do that using the printer driver. Please follow these steps:
1. On your computer, please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R, then let both go.
2. In the Run window that appears, please type CONTROL and click OK.
3. In Control Panel, click on View devices and printers.
4. If you are using Windows 10, please right click your Canon MG2500 series Printer and left click on Printing Preferences. If using Windows 11, please click on your Canon MG2500 and in the list that appears, click on Printing Preferences.
5. Click on the Maintenance tab.
6. Click on Ink Cartridge Settings.
7. Choose your desired setting and click OK.
