My Canon MX492 can print but not scan anymore.

Hi Canon Team,

My MX492 can print but not scan anymore. I used to be able to do it, and have also installed IJ Scan Utility, but for some reason, it still does not work. I need your help.

Thank you so much!

Hi iamha,

First, please install the scanner driver and then install the IJ Scan Utility2.

To access these downloads, please use this link:

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-mx492#DOWNLOADS

Please click the Download button to the right of "ICA Driver Ver. 5.0.0 (Mac)".  Once that finishes downloading, please open or run "misd-mac-ijscanner15s-5_0_0-ea21_3.dmg" to install the scanner driver.

Next, please click the Download button to the right of "IJ Scan Utility2 Ver.2.4.1 (Mac)".  Once that finishes downloading, please open or run "misu-mac-2_4_1-ea21_3.dmg" to install the IJ Scan Utility on your Mac.

Once both are installed, please open the IJ Scan Utility and attempt to scan.

Please open the Applications folder, the Canon Utilities folder and then the IJ Scan Utility2 folder to open the scanning application.

Thanks for joining the conversation, iamha!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which operating system is running on your computer (i.e. Windows or macOS, and which version thereof) and whether your PIXMA MX492 communicates with your computer via Wi-Fi or a USB cable. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello Danny,

I use macOS Sonoma 14.0 and print wirelessly. Oh, and when I open Image Capture, I do not see any device. Even though I downloaded and installed IJ Scan Utility, it still says it is not installed.

Thank you!

This has happened to me and I have downloaded the drivers, but it keeps telling me my USB is disconnected when it is not.
