Fortuitous luck has solved my issue with Mac osx upgrade. Apparently, a new app (at least new to me) has been made called Image Capture. This app contains the software needed to do scans with my MX922 that previously was part of system settings>printers and scanners. I now have it pinned to docking bar and all works as it did before.

Appreciate knowing that. I can’t find the updated drivers on the Canon website. Any info on where to look would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

Tell us when Apple changed which API, how much notice they gave, and THEN tell us how you would do better
Meanwhile: Canon drivers are included with OSX; as of minutes ago there are NO driver updates available for upgrade on Canon's support page and there are NO updates available from Apple to OSX version 14.3.1 under which I first had trouble. So other readers should take your bile with a large grain of salt

I tried the advice of pdiffer1957 and updated the driver from Canon's website for Sonoma 13 even though my Mac runs on Sonoma 14. There is no update for 14, but as pdiffer1957 said, it might work with the update for 13. And it did. Look for the Canon IJ Scan Utility, download it, and install it on your Mac. Works **bleep** good. Thank you pdiffer1957.

Hey,
I was wondering why my printer will still print but will not scan in Sonoma 14. You say it's been retired but I can still download several other "software" options on canon website. So why the no scan feature? If you cannot answer can you direct me to customer service?
Thanks

I just today (Feb 26, 2024) called the upgrade number you gave and was told the MX922 still shows as “fully supported.”
Our MX922 has had severe issues since Sonoma 14.3.1 on *some* document types, including PDFs, which print fine when I take my laptop to my office to print on a newer MegaTank model. An example of the issue is printing from the Mac Calendar app, text and the hairlines between days are missing (or maybe, white).
Can you clear up the difference between what you posted above and what I was just told?

Which Canon multifunction machines are compatible with Mac OS 10.14 Sonoma?

I wound up buying a new Canon printer, G3270. It does everything my old MX922 did and connects seamlessly with my 2017 iMac running Mac OS Sonoma. It also takes up less desk space and I think has a superior ink cartridge system. (Time will tell if the cartridges are less expensive or longer lasting.)

Apple has deprecated one or more of the APIs used by Canon's software as of MacOS V14. It seems that Canon is across the board discontinuing support for MacOS as their camera software has also been affected. Good thing I still have a Windows machine in addition to the Mac. 2 choices, buy an Epson scanner or dump the Mac.

This seems a likely enough technical explanation but it is directly at odds with what the guy on the upgrade line looked up and replied to me. Can you give a little more detail? If Canon *wants* to support this model, and other models work, it doesn't seem like it'd be TOO hard for Canon to indeed support the device, which has a mix of features that are hard to find on newer medium-duty (medium-priced) models

I agree. I did just discover yesterday that the Image Capture app will get the scanner to function, but that is a workaround rather than being properly supported.
