My printer was acting fine until this error light came on. I'm wondering if it's gone bad since the ink shouldn't affect the scanning function. Any thoughts?

Hi,
If you want to scan during an ink tank / cartridge error condition, press and hold the <Stop/Reset> button on the printer for at least five seconds, and then release it.
The above procedure will disable the ink level detection. It is recommended to replace the ink tank / cartridge after scanning is completed.

I held down the stop button on the front/top of the unit but it didn't solve the problem.
