How to connect a PIXMA G620 to a Mac with a USB?

I bought a new Canon Megatank Pixma G620 a couple of months ago. I set it up wireless, ran some tests and everything worked. I had a family emergency and left it alone for 2 months.

I just came back and neither of my 3 Macs can find the printer or it says printing but it’s not, (hours waiting).

I tried re-installing the software and manually setting up the wifi on the printer but nothing works. I finally bought a USB cord to just plug it in. That doesn’t work. It will show up as a printer I can add, with USB in the title but it wants me to choose a Driver. Ugh! None show up for this printer.

Can someone please just explain how to do this in really simple steps?!

Step 1:  Completely uninstall the printer from your computer...driver, software, everything. Restart computer.

Step 2:  Does your printer require you to set it for either USB or Wi-Fi? Choose USB.

Step 3: Install the printer from scratch, following Canon instructions exactly. For example.....it is commonly required to install driver & software BEFORE connecting the USB cable.

As to your WiFi failure.....after being turned off for months, it likely lost the IP address it originally had, so the computers were unable to find it again. The printer lost its "lease" with the router. This is what happens with DHCP addressing. If you want to use WiFi, give the printer a STATIC IP address, meaning it will not change, period. You then have to tell your router to reserve the Static IP address, so it will not assign it to anything else. How you do this varies, so look at the router documentation or get tech help from the router supplier/manufacturer.
