It's kinda crazy how many people write in about not being able to get the MG2522 printer to work. Can this really be a printer problem, or is it a user problem?
Did you follow the installation instructions? They probably tell you to install software/driver BEFORE connecting computer and printer with the USB cable. Did you do this? It's a common error. Connecting them first then installing software is a problem.
Do this: disconnect printer. Go to Windows' Settings -> Apps and uninstall all the Canon software & driver entries. Restart the computer. Then start from scratch, installing drivers BEFORE connecting the printer. Restart the computer. Then connect the printer. Now, does it work?
