CANON mx 850 printer/scanner/ fax machine--print head has gone bad--can I still scan to computer. I don't want to reconnect
it to computer if the scan function won't work. Thanks for help.

If you are not receiving an error message on the printer and the ink is just not printing, you should be able to continue to use the scanning portion of the printer. If you are receiving a low/out of ink warning, you can disable the ink level detection function of the printer to remove the error and continue to scan. To do this, please press and hold down the STOP/RESET or RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer for at least 10 seconds, then release it. Please note that you will need to do this procedure for each tank that is low or out of ink.
If an error other than low/out of ink is displayed on the printer, it will need to be resolved before the scanning function can be used. If you feel your printer is need of service, please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.
